Getting started

Make your first anonymous IP lookup and understand the response.

net.info provides IP geolocation over HTTPS. Requests do not require an API key. Send JSON for bulk lookups; responses are JSON.

Find your IP

curl https://net.info/ip

GET /ip looks up the caller's public IP. The homepage at / serves this documentation; clients that previously requested JSON from / should use /ip.

Look up an address

curl https://net.info/ip/1.1.1.1
curl 'https://net.info/ip/2606:4700:4700::1111'

A successful response includes ip, type, and geographic fields when available. Private and other special-purpose addresses, such as loopback, link-local, documentation and multicast ranges in IPv4 or IPv6, have no public geographic location:

{
  "ip": "127.0.0.1",
  "type": "private"
}

Public results can include location.country, region, city, lat, lng, postalCode, timezone, and geonameId. Values depend on source coverage. An IPv4-mapped IPv6 address such as ::ffff:8.8.8.8 is looked up as the IPv4 address it carries. Consult the generated API reference for the complete schema.

Bulk lookups

curl https://net.info/ip \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data '["1.1.1.1", "8.8.8.8"]'

POST /ip accepts 1–100 unique addresses. The response contains a data array. Individual failures use type: "error" and errorMessage; a successful HTTP status does not mean every address succeeded. Match results by ip, rather than assuming input order.
